Prof. Si-Jin Liu visited Chongqing Institute of Green and Intelligent Technology (CIGIT) and gave a wonderful speech, titled“the mechanism studies of nano-silver on cellular energy metabolism” on July 25, 2014. This meeting was chaired by Prof. De-Sheng Pei, who is a dean of Research Center for Environment and Health (RCEH). Prof. Jin-Song Guo and Prof. Hong Liu, the director and vice director of the Three Gorges Institute of Ecological Environment, were present at the meeting. Prof. Liu talked about the influencing mechanism of different size nano-silver on cellular energy metabolism. He indicated that low dose nano-silver exposure on cells changed the cellular energy metabolic pathway by suppression of rate-limiting enzyme to reduce citric acid cycle levels, and therefore ultimately inhibited ATP production. Prof. Liu had an in-depth discussion with the staffs and postgraduates of CIGIT on some academic topics at the end of meeting. Prof. Liu’s researches mainly focus on environmental medicine and environmental toxicology; he was the recipient of “Hundred Talents Program” of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and win National Science Foundation of China for Distinguished Young Scholars. His recent works have been published in many famous peer-viewed journals, such as ACS Nano, Mol Cancer Res, Oncogene, Environ Sci Technol, Blood, Journal of Clinical Investigation, Cancer Research, Nanoscale etc. Parts of his achievements have been reported and commented by Nature, Science Daily and other leading prestigious journals.
