The Three Gorges Institute of Ecological environment (Three Gorges Institute for short) aims to build an important ecological protective screen in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, for the country’s needs of social development and ecological security of cascade reservoirs in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River.

The institute focuses on elucidating the evolution of ecological environment and the Mutual feedback relationship of river-reservoir complex ecosystem.

We also seek to reveal the cascade effect and formation mechanism of the ecological process of the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and to make Breakthroughs on the Key technologies for intelligent monitoring, detection and control of river-reservoir ecological processes and pollution prevention. In order to realize the sustainable development of social economy in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, we put forward some measures to ensure the ecological priority of the river basin.

Finally, we aim to establish a complete discipline system of reservoir ecology, to form an intelligent technical system of river-reservoir eco-environmental process, and to build a world-class research institute.
