The Information Technology Department under the Chongqing Institute of Green and Intelligent Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences is strategically positioned to address national priorities by advancing next-generation artificial intelligence. It focuses on cutting-edge technologies such as intelligent perception and recognition, automated reasoning, big data & intelligence computing, and intelligent robotics. The Information Technology Department aims to integrate technological innovation, results transformation and talent cultivation, empowering ecological environment protection in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area and industrial upgrading in the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle.

The Information Technology Department consists of six research units, including Automatic Reasoning and Cognition Research Center, Big Data and Unmanned Systems Research Center, Applications Research Center, Intelligent Security Technology Research Center, High Performance Computing Application Research Center, Robotics Technology and Systems Center and Quantum Information Technology Center. At present, there are more than 70 researchers, including one academician of the CAS Member.

The Information Technology Department offers master's and doctoral programs in Computer Science and Technology, master's programs in Electronic Information and postdoctoral research station in Computer Science and Technology. It possesses a leading supercomputing platform in Southwestern China, has built seven provincial and ministerial-level research platforms, and has received over 10 provincial and ministerial-level science and technology awards.
