Serving national strategies for researches and technologies, the Information Technology Department has deployed the next generation of artificial intelligence, carried out research on cutting edge technologies such as intelligent perception and recognition, automatic reasoning, big data and intelligent computing, and intelligent robots. We strive to build an intelligent technology research institution of creative innovation, technology transfer and talent development, so as to provide intelligent technological support for ecological environment protection of the Three Gorges Reservoir area and industrial upgrading of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle.

The Information Technology Department is composed of six research units: Automatic Reasoning and Cognition Research Center, Big Data & Applications Research Center, Intelligent Security Technology Research Center, High Performance Computing Application Research Center, Beidou Engineering Application Center and Quantum Information Technology Center. At present, there are more than 70 researchers, including 1 academician of the CAS Member.

The Information Technology Department has graduate degree programs of PhD and Master in Computer Science and Technology, Master in Electronic Information and post-doctoral research station in Computer Science and Technology with excellent facilities, e.g. the most powerful research supercomputing cluster open to public in Southwestern China. It has established 7 provincial and ministerial level research platforms, and received more than 10 provincial and ministerial awards.
