The First "Belt and Road" Science and Technology Exchange Conference Open Innovation Forum for High-quality Development of Manufacturing Industry in Developing Countries was successfully held

On November 6th, as a significant event of the inaugural “Belt and Road” Science, Technology, and Innovation Exchange Conference, the "Forum on Open Innovation to Promote High-Quality Development of Manufacturing in Developing Countries" was held in Chongqing. The forum was attended by Jiang Duntao, Deputy Mayor of the Chongqing Municipal People's Government; Zheng Bei, Deputy Governor of the Sichuan Provincial Government; Zhang Yaping, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; as well as representatives from Sri Lanka, Chile, and Nepal. The forum was co-hosted by the Chongqing Municipal People's Government, the Sichuan Provincial People's Government, the Chinese Academy of Sciences Chongqing Green Smart Technology Research Institute, and Sichuan University, with the support of various government departments.


The forum included opening remarks, keynote speeches, and high-level dialogues, attracting over 200 participants from renowned domestic and international enterprises, universities, and research institutions.


During the keynote speeches, prominent figures such as Long Teng, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of Beijing Institute of Technology; James Charles Paul Woodcock, Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and Professor at the University of York; Huang Wei, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor at Northwestern Polytechnical University; Xiang Jinwu, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor at Beihang University; and Chen Xiangsheng, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor at Shenzhen University, delivered speeches on the current status and trends of technological innovation promoting high-quality development in China's advanced manufacturing sectors, such as high-end equipment, new energy, and new materials.


During the high-level dialogue session, leaders from eight renowned enterprises, including Dongfang Electric Corporation and Bosch Group, focused on the specific demands of “Belt and Road” countries in the marketization of manufacturing. They discussed strategies and directions for technological innovation and transformation upgrades in manufacturing, emphasizing the role of science and technology innovation in driving high-quality development.


The outcomes of this forum are expected to further promote practical cooperation with “Belt and Road” countries in areas such as artificial intelligence, big data, and contribute to building mutually beneficial industrial and supply chain systems. The forum aims to accelerate talent exchange, platform construction, and facilitate open innovation to drive high-quality development in manufacturing.
